DJ Mark Flynn: Biography
I first made a name for myself in the DJ world in 1980 when I began a 22 year stint as a
weekly fixture on two of Boston's most popular non-commercial radio stations: MIT affiliated
WMBR and Boston College affiliated WZBC. Both stations were, and continue to be, pioneers in
presenting new musical artists to the greater Boston area, and now worldwide online.
In 2000 I moved to NYC and began to seriously pursue my career as a DJ, focusing on club
work, weddings, fashion shows, and events. I've held numerous residences at various venues
since 2000, and am presently doing a weekly radio show on
www.wtnrradio.com.
One of my most interesting deejaying experiences in NYC was working in the music section of
the high-end department store Bergdorf Goodman from 2006 - 2008. Playing music in clubs,
bars, and on radio, I rarely experienced the direct contact I had while deejaying and selling
music at Bergdorf, and that experience definitely broadened my client relationship skills.
It's the combination of musical knowledge and experience working with people from diverse
backgrounds and tastes that I bring to the table as a DJ. This is particularly true for my
wedding clients, with whom I devote whatever time is necessary to develop a play list that
will make their wedding day one they will cherish forever.
My library covers a wide spectrum of musical genres, including the latest to 40 hits, classic
funk and soul, disco, 80's favs, afro pop, 60's garage, doo wop, bebop, ska, big band,
electronic dance music, well, you get the point. I consider myself well suited to DJ
weddings, corporate events, teenage graduation parties, or any party where the quality and
knowledge of the music is a key component of the happy occasion.
